    Workforce Development Plans
    • CMDHB Workforce Forecast Report 2010-2020 [file size=5033KB]
      This inaugural report provides an analysis of the current CMDHB workforce and projected forecasts to 2020. The forecast modelling is based on demographic changes in the Counties Manukau population. It outlines some of the changes affecting the organisation, stakeholders and the wider health sector and points out trends that are likely to impact on the CMDHB workforce over the next 10 years.
       

    • CMDHB Nursing Strategy (2008-2011) [file size=858KB]
      The aim of this strategy is to look at broader nursing workforce and quality improvement priorities over the longer term, and is specifically focussed on the next 3-4 years to 2011.
       
    • Te Ara Whanaketanga - Linking Pathways of Development: Mental Health & Addiction Workforce Development Strategy 2007-2011 [file size=1774KB]
      This plan was completed in 2007 with the input of the local mental health and addiction sector. The strategy details, local district responsibilities and links to national workforce development imperatives and actions led by the Ministry of Health. Te Ara Whanaketanga (2008) is aligned to the CMDHB Workforce Development Plan (2007).
       
    • CMDHB Health of Older People Workforce Development Plan 2007-2011 [file size=233KB]
      This plan is closely linked with CMDHB's Workforce Development Plan. It clarifies what additional actions it will take to ensure adequate numbers of people with appropriate skills are available for supporting older people.
       
    • CMDHB Workforce Development Plan 2007-2011  [file size=4118KB]
      Counties Manukau DHB recently signed off its inaugural Workforce Development Plan 2007:2011. This Plan represents a summary of where the DHB will focus its efforts over the next 3-4 years, and reflects the view that addressing workforce issues is a major contribution that the DHB can make to addressing health inequalities in our community.

    Workforce Development Reports  

    • CMDHB Workforce Innovations (2011)  [file size=2.12MB]
      This report highlights a number of workforce innovations that have taken place at Counties Manukau DHB recently. The innovations have been initiated and implemented by each individual service area mentioned in this report, and collated by the workforce development team.  The 2011 report contains both new initiatives as well as updates on initiatives contained in the CMDHB Organisational Workforce Initiatives report published in May 2010.  Most of the new initiatives were entrants in CMDHB’s 2011 Science Fest awards, which for the first time in its long history, contained workforce development as a category.

       
    • Counties Manukau DHB Organisational Workforce Initiatives (May 2010) [file size=246KB]

      This report highlights a number of workforce innovations that have taken place at Counties Manukau DHB over the last 18 months. The innovations have been initiated and implemented by each service area mentioned in this report, and collated by the workforce development department.  The report illustrates just a sample of workforce innovations and its purpose is to celebrate success stories, as well as to inform and inspire others considering undertaking workforce innovation, as to some of the opportunities and challenges that exist.  

    • CMDHB Market Research (mid-careers market): Summary report (June 2008) [file size=124KB]
      Counties Manukau DHB commissioned research (2008) to look at attracting Maaori, Pacific people and males to a health career at a "mid-career" stage, where "mid career" was defined as 25-45 year olds. The research is being used to guide next steps with respect to enabling this segment of the potential health workforce to begin training for a health career.
       
       
    • Counties Manukau Health Service Needs and Labour Force Projections (March 2006)
      The following set of four reports were prepared by the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research (NZIER) for Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) and aim collectively to help CMDHB to consider the future health service needs of a growing, ethnically diverse and ageing population, and the consequent implications for hospital workforce development.
