About Counties Manukau District Health BoardOur LocalitiesLocality AtlasEach locality or suburb within Counties Manukau has its own characteristics. For example, Counties Manukau is generally a younger population which is obvious in Otara and Mangere but not in Howick/Pakuranga or Botany/Clevedon. The majority of Maori live in Manurewa and Papakura and Pacific peoples tend to live mostly in Mangere, Otara and Manurewa. The characteristics of each locality are important as they shape the health needs and aspirations of that community and therefore how services are shaped to meet those. The people of Counties Manukau tend to identify more with these localities (e.g. Otara, Mangere) rather than Counties Manukau as a whole. Therefore, this analysis helps us better understand those localities respond to them in a tailored way. The following pages include valuable information by each locality. It outlines the key characteristics for each locality to help community understanding and those planning and shaping services. If you have any comments, suggestions or further information you can contact Dr Gary Jackson at GJackson@cmdhb.org.nz. Other InformationNote: not all information can be provided at this locality level as some indicators are statistically unreliable. However, it is a valuable resource to assist understanding of needs and planning for the future. For additional district wide information, please click here to access a number of reports including:
